ALL MAHANAYAKE THEROS OF SRI LANKA SEND BIRTHDAY WISHES TO HIS HOLINESS THE DALAI LAMA

AN INTERNATIONAL BILINGUAL DHAMMA SYMPOSIUM HELD COINCIDING HIS HOLINESS THE DALAI LAMA’S 87TH BIRTHDAY AT THE BUDDDHIST AND PALI UNIVERSITY OF SRI LANKA IN APPRECIATION OF HIS COMMITMENT TO HUMAN EXISTENCE

The Bilingual Dhamma Symposium that was held jointly by the Buddhist and Pali University in Homagama and the Foundation for Buddhist Brotherhood at the auditorium of the university on July 06, 2022, the birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama as a tribute to his life-long work on sharing the noble Buddhist concepts and bringing spiritual upliftment and happiness to the world community turned out to be a landmark event in the annals of Sri Lanka’s Buddhist history.

The occasion was graced by the presence of alyaniwamsa Keerthi Sri Wangisanwamsalankara Vipassana Kammatthanachariya Aggamaha Panditha Maha Mahopadyaya Most Venerable Dodampahala Chandasiri Mahanayake Thero, Supreme Patriarch of Sri Amarapura Maha Nikaya and he delivered the main Anushasana and also conveyed his greetings to His Holiness the Dalai Lama for many more years of healthy and productive life to serve mankind.

The audience, in addition to the Most Ven Aggamaha Panditha Dodampahala Chandasiri Mahanayake Thero, comprised of the Most Venerable Mahanayake and Anunayake Theros of the three main Nikayas of the Sri Lanka along with the senior Maha Sangha and many monks of the other Buddhist countries and senior academics.

The message of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to grace the occasion and to also to bless his spiritual sisters and brothers of Sri Lanka was read to the august assembly by Ven. Prof Aluthgama Wimalarathana Thero, Head of the Department of Buddhist Culture.

Messages of greetings for the well-being, long and productive life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to serve and bring happiness to people across the world from is  the Mahanayake Theros of Malwatte and Asgiriya Chapters of Siyam Maha Nikaya, respectively, Most Ven Thibbotuwawe Sri Sumangala Mahanayake Thero and Most Ven Warakagoda Gnanaratahana Mahanayake Thero, from the Mahanayake Thero of Ramanna Maha Nikaya Most Ven Aggamaha Panditha Makulewe Wimala Mahanayake Thero, from Most Ven Prof Pallekande Ratahanasara Anunayake Thero, Secretary General, Sri Amarapura Maha  Nikaya, from the  Anunayake Thero of Malwatte Chapter of Siyam Maha  Nikaya Most Ven Dr Niyangoda Vijithasiri Anunayake Thero,  from the Anunayake Thero of Malwatte Chapter of Siyam Maha Nikaya Most Ven Dr Dimbulkumbure Wimaladhamma Anunayake Thero and from the Anunayake Thero of Asgiriya Chapter of Siyam Maha Nikaya Most Ven Dr Wendaruwe Upali Anunayake Thero were read over to the audience and conveyed to the Dalai Lama.

 

The short documentary video on His Holiness the Dalai Lama, on his escape to India, his government in exile and lofty work based on Buddhism for mankind and the discourses that were on the involvement and engagement of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in advocating and teaching the different significant aspects of Buddhism to the international community were enlightening and eye-opening.  Blessings for the well-being of Sri Lankans at the present time of their great distress were also delivered by the most venerable prelates of the Maha Sangha.

At the conclusion the entire gathering, including the most venerable prelates of the Maha Sangha chanted Pirith ‘sutras’ for the well-being and long and productive life of His Holiness, the Dalai Lama.
