Happy Saga Dawa 🙏🏻
May all beings be free from Suffering 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
In the verdant fields of Heiyanthuduwa, lived a gentle calf named Tikiri. She was just a year and a half old, with soft eyes and a curious spirit. Her owner, a man whose life revolved around his small herd of cattle, faced the daily struggle of feeding his family. In Sri Lanka, caring for cattle is a demanding life, with income earned hand-to-mouth, solely from the milk sold to villagers.
One day, a shadow fell upon Tikiri’s innocent life. Her owner, in dire need of money, made the heartbreaking decision to sell her to a slaughterhouse. A butcher visited the farm, his visits filled with hushed negotiations and bargaining, until a price was finally settled: one hundred thousand rupees.
This somber tale reached the ears of Anura, our trusted gardener. He shared Tikiri’s plight with us at Semkay Ling, and our hearts were immediately touched.
We knew we had to act. Without hesitation, we offered one hundred and ten thousand rupees, a sum that promised not only Tikiri’s freedom but also hope for her future.
MB V VBAnd so, little Tikiri was saved. Today, she grazes happily on our grounds, her belly full of good food, and her days filled with the love and protection of the Semkay Ling staff.
Her story is a testament to compassion, a reminder that every life, no matter how small, deserves a chance to live in peace and happiness.
