On the fourth day of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s arrival at the Tibetan Settlement in Bylakuppe

On the fourth day of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s arrival at the Tibetan Settlement in Bylakuppe, South India, he granted public audiences to approximately 2,200 devotees on January 8, 10, 13, 15, and 17.

The primary focus was on Tibetans over 80 years old and individuals with special needs from the Tibetan settlements in Bylakuppe, Mundgod, Hunsur, and Kollegal. Among the devotees were five Tibetans over 100 years old, including one who was 104. His Holiness last visited Bylakuppe in 2017.

The summary of those who received an audience is as follows:
1. 1,300 Tibetans aged 80 and above, along with their helpers
2. 315 Tibetans with special needs and their helpers
3. 560 Indians, foreigners, Tibetans, and Himalayan Buddhists

His Holiness first visited the Tibetan settlement in Bylakyppe in 1962. This visit marks His Holiness’ 135 th visit to Karnataka, a state that is home to five major Tibetan settlements and renowned Buddhist learning centres, including Gaden, Drepung, and Sera monasteries. His Holiness is currently staying at the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery.
