Religious Ceremony Held to Commemorate Victims of 1985 LTTE Attack on Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi

A religious ceremony was held on May 14 to honor those who lost their lives in the brutal LTTE attack on the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura in 1985. The event, which included the transfer of merit (punyānumōdanā) and alms offerings, took place at the site of the Maha Bodhi under the guidance of the Atamasthana Nayake Thero, Most Venerable Dr. Pallegama Hemarathana Thero, Chief Sanghanayaka of Nuwarakalaviya.
The ceremony was attended by the Atamasthana Nayake Theros, the Maha Sangha, and a large number of devoted laypeople, all coming together in remembrance and reverence. The event served as a meaningful occasion to honor the memory of those who perished, with prayers and blessings.
